Bytemark Names Eric Reese as President and CEO

Bytemark, Inc., announced the appointment of Eric Reese as its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1st, 2020.  Reese will join Bytemark’s Board of Directors and succeeds Marcus Welz.  Welz will now focus on his broader role as President and CEO of Siemens Mobility’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for North America, managing the significant growth which it is currently experiencing. 

“Bytemark is poised to become a leader in Mobility as a Service and I am confident that Eric will provide the focus needed in order to take the business to the next level,” said Welz.  “I will continue to work closely with Bytemark as their solutions become more closely linked into Siemens Mobility’s larger ITS landscape and I am particularly pleased that we’ve had the opportunity to work with Eric closely over the past year – ensuring a seamless transition.”

Bytemark’s vision includes growing from mobile ticketing into a full-service provider to the Transportation Industry and expanding its the mission of “Plan, Book and Pay.” Together with Siemens Mobility and HaCon, Bytemark is poised to provide a world class Mobility-as-a-Service passenger experience starting with trip planning, booking and payment but also provide value to the transport operator with disruption management and fleet management solutions. 

Before joining Bytemark as Chief Operating Officer in July 2019, Reese served as Vice President, Business Development at Gannett Fleming, where he led their strategic growth in their Transportation/Transit & Rail Global business lines.  Prior to that, he served as Director for Global Strategy for Fare Payments for Scheidt & Bachmann. Reese also served as Director, Revenue for the Chicago Transit Authority and held various senior leadership roles within the City of Chicago.  Reese is an active member in various industry associations and is a 2019 graduate of American Public Transportation Associations Leadership program.  

Founded in 2011, Bytemark is a provider of Transit Fare Collection solutions to over 20 transit agencies across the globe, including New York Waterway, Toronto Transit Commission, Capital Metro (Austin, TX), and King County Metro (Seattle, WA), SamTrans (San Mateo County Transit District/CA) and RET (Rotterdam/Netherlands). Based in New York City, Bytemark also operates regional offices in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and India. In 2017, HaCon a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG, acquired the majority of Bytemark, Inc.
