Bytemark Assumes Hopthru’s Ticketing Operations

With a multi-tenant reseller offering, Bytemark builds on its long-established mobility and payment solutions, while Hopthru focuses on leveraging its expertise in data analytics.

In a move toward strengthening each firm’s strategic roadmap, Bytemark and Hopthru have agreed to a partnership wherein Bytemark will provide payment solutions for Hopthru’s current mobile ticketing clients. Hopthru will turn its focus to its fast-growing analytics business.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this multi-tenant app as part of our ticketing solution, Bytemark Passage,” Bytemark Chief Executive Officer Eric Reese said. “This reseller option means mobile ticketing can be quickly and easily accessible to transit agencies of all sizes, in all regions.“

While Bytemark has live multi-tenant regional apps, this is the first time the company will be offering a direct-to-consumer national app. The partnership with Hopthru is part of Bytemark’s ongoing effort to expand Bytemark Bridge, its Plan, Book & Pay platform.

Participating transit agencies will have the opportunity to make use of Bytemark’s larger fare payments offering, including partner programs, enhanced reporting, hand-held validation and other add-ons. Longer term plans for the app include rebranding while also adding functionality such as product-based fare capping, retail cash payments, trip planning and more. Customers will also have the option to purchase tickets and manage their accounts online via a customer web portal.

While both companies expect to transition over several weeks, Hopthru’s customers will not experience any disruption in their experience. “Hopthru was adamant in making this transition as seamless as possible, and we couldn’t agree more,” said Nick Ihm, Bytemark’s Chief Strategy Officer. Bytemark has previous experience with transitioning agencies and customers to its platform, and anticipates this changeover going smoothly.

“We couldn’t be more excited with this partnership as it allows both companies to focus on their core strengths. We know Bytemark takes its customer relationships seriously and will offer best-in-class solutions and support,” said Cole Calhoun, Hopthru’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.
