Bytemark and Velocia partner to bring mobility rewards to public transit, aiming to aid transit agencies with their post-pandemic recovery.

Bytemark, an innovator in the mobility as a service (MaaS) space, has partnered with Canadian-based Velocia to deliver mobility rewards to public transit. Adding mobility rewards compliments an already robust Bytemark Bridge™ “mobility-as-a-service (MaaS)” platform and will aid agencies with their post-pandemic recovery.

Velocia’s platform, which delivers rewards and incentives, is designed to encourage people to forgo single-occupant vehicles in favor of transit and other shared mobility options. The flexible and easy-to-use rewards platform allows agencies to shift customer behavior by incentivizing off-peak ridership. Additionally, as part of Bytemark’s account-based Connect product suite, it provides a unique platform for introducing transit riders to shared mobility options that are instrumental in increasing access to transit by helping solve “first and last mile” problems.

Points earned can be redeemed for credit or discounts on shared mobility available or for transit. For example, users can earn points by riding the bus and use their points for a discount on a shared e-scooter or bike. Future functionality will include credits and or discounts at local businesses.

“The pandemic has accelerated the need to think innovatively about how transit agencies engage with riders and increase ridership. We are thrilled to have a partner in Bytemark that is passionate about incentivizing transit,” says David Winterstein, CEO of Velocia.

Velocia has been rewarding Miami-Dade Transit riders since December 2019, most recently using incentives to shift peak ridership to off-peak hours to support bus capacity restrictions due to the pandemic.  The program continues to leverage incentives to promote multimodal commute behaviors.

“With Velocia we are getting a field-tested mobility rewards partner that shares our mutual goal of reducing single-occupancy vehicle trips and shifting riders to multimodal options. This integration provides Bytemark a unique opportunity to further incorporate micro mobility providers into our ecosystem to complement transit in a meaningful and sustainable way – and all the time, rewarding the riders’ participation” says Greg Valyer, co-founder and Vice President Strategic Partnerships.
