Riders will enjoy seamless service as OCTA transitions to Bytemark’s recently introduced Plan, Book & Pay™ platform, Bytemark Bridge

Bytemark, an innovator in the Mobility as a Service space, has been chosen by Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to replace the agency’s existing mobile ticketing application.

The agreement solidifies Bytemark’s position as an industry leader in transitioning agencies to new platforms without disruption to riders. Drawing on past success replacing other agencies’ mobile ticketing systems, Bytemark has begun implementing plans for a smooth rollout of OCTA’s new application over the next several months.

Bytemark provides this in-demand solution as part of its new Plan, Book & Pay™ platform, Bytemark Bridge, which rolled out last month.

“OCTA is a forward-thinking agency pushing for change in the industry on all fronts — we at Bytemark are excited to partner on the first steps to enhancing the ridership experience,” said Bytemark Chief Executive Officer Eric Reese. “OCTA recognized that our account-based Bridge product suite offers a convenient, customizable option that will enhance and upgrade the travel experience for Orange County riders now and in the coming years.”

Bytemark will ease the process by drawing on knowledge and insights gained from working with other agencies to transition to new mobile applications.

OCTA customers will continue to receive the same high-quality service as Bytemark implements the new product. The existing University Pass Program also will continue. Riders will enjoy an intuitive payment and ticket validation process and won’t experience interruptions throughout the transition.

Cutting-edge technology drives Bytemark’s products. Bytemark Bridge includes tools for travel planning, parking management, fare payments, and more. The platform saves transit agencies time and money by offering a one-stop-shop for everything they need. Bytemark Bridge integrates with existing hardware, so agencies do not have to replace expensive investments.

With the new partnership, OCTA also receives access to a growing mobility portfolio from the Siemens Intermodal Solutions Group.

“Bytemark’s focus on customer satisfaction and ease of use to ridership during the transition, plus providing a safe, socially distanced option, will help OCTA return riders to their system,” Reese said. “We welcome the opportunity to fulfill these needs during this fast-changing time in the industry.”

OCTA serves the third-largest county in California, with a fleet consisting of more than 500 vehicles for 59 fixed routes. Ridership was 37,590,720 boardings from July 2018 through July 2019.
